Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course was Held at our University on 13-14 January 2023.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Courses developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) are carried out by the The Society of Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine in Turkey as "International Training Organization", which is authorized by the AHA. As a result of the cooperation of the Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine and The Society of Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine, Medeniyet University was authorized as the “PALS Course Training Cite” by the AHA in 2022. The first PALS course was held between 13-14 January 2023 at the Northern Campus of the Istanbul Medeniyet University under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülser Esen Besli, Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.  
Prof. Dr. Sadrettin Pençe, Dean of Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine, and the entire of the faculty administration showed great support for the organization of the course. Prof. Dr. Dinçer Yıldızdaş, The President of the Society of Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine, participated the course. The instructors of the course were experts of Pediatric Emergency or Pediatric Intensive Care, Prof. Dr. Murat Duman, Prof. Dr. Esra Şevketoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gulser Esen Besli, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emel Ulusoy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güntülü Şık, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ülkem Koçoğlu Barlas, Assist. Prof. Dr. Emel Ekşi Alp and Dr. Ayşe İrem Sofuoğlu. The course participants including residents and specialists of pediatrics received internationally valid certificates. 
The main goals of the PALS course are to acquire the necessary up-to-date knowledge and skills on advanced life support in children, to increase the quality of medical care in critically ill children and to reduce child mortality. Therefore, the PALS courses, which are expected to make significant contributions to the fields of "healthy individuals" and "quality education" as sustainable development goals and strategies, are planned to be continued at our university at regular intervals.
