The meeting of the Istanbul Coordination Board of the Public Health Services Directorate and Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine Department of Public Health, hosted by Istanbul Medeniyet University, took place on November 23, 2023, between 13:00 and 16:30. The meeting began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem at the Conference Hall of the Central Library of Ziraat Bankası at Istanbul Medeniyet University.
Opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Sadrettin Pençe, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Emre Güner, Director of Public Health Services at the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Işıl Maral, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the Department of Public Health. The meeting was attended by the heads of the Departments of Public Health and Family Medicine of 23 universities, 33 District Health Directors, and employees of the Directorate of Public Health Services and the Education and Registration Unit.
Davut Köseoğlu, Deputy Director of Personnel Services at the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, presented the coordination information for the 2022-2023 Istanbul Provincial Coordination from the records of the Education and Registration Unit. Prof. Dr. Işıl Maral and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güzin Zeren Öztürk presented good practice examples in Public Health and Family Medicine. Dr. Melek Nur Aslan, the Health Director of Fatih district, shared her district's experience within the framework of the Coordination Protocol during the coffee and tea break.
In the third part of the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Emre Güner, Davut Köseoğlu, Dr. Tuncay Özovalı, Prof. Dr. Işıl Maral, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güzin Zeren Öztürk received the opinions, problems, and solution suggestions of the coordination board members.
After this very productive meeting, it was decided that the Coordination Board meetings of the SEAB will be hosted by universities in the coming years. Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine Department of Public Health undertook the organization of the 2024 SEAB coordination board meeting.
