Young Doctors of the World Society, one of the student groups of Istanbul Medeniyet University, Faculty of Medicine, brought together moviegoers with its traditional “Cinema on Campus” event this year as well. The event, which was held on January 16, 2025 at the Red Hall of the North Campus and was open to our students as well as external participants, brought the movie “Lorenzo's Oil”, adapted from a true story, to the audience.
The film, which is about a child and his family struggling with a rare disease and their determination to make a significant difference in the medical world, emphasizes how important the struggle given with determination and perseverance is in protecting human health and developing innovative approaches in the field of medicine. This story, which is a great source of inspiration especially for medical and health sciences students, drew attention to the importance of social responsibility and efforts to save human lives in the fight against rare diseases.
In the evaluation session held after the film screening, participants shared their opinions about the film in writing and these opinions were exhibited in the event area. This meaningful event reminded participants of the significant impact of innovative medical studies on protecting human health and the role of social responsibility in reducing preventable deaths.
