FACULTY OF MEDICINE

Istanbul Medeniyet University was established on July 21, 2010 with 11 Faculties, 2 Schools and 4 Institutes as 9th public university of Istanbul, 98th of Turkish Republic accordance published in the Official Gazette No. 27648 with law No. 6005.
The Faculty of Medicine, which is among the established Faculties, uses as Training and Research Hospital the Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital jointly with the Ministry of Health accordance with the Joint Use and Cooperation Protocol signed on 25.05.2011 between Istanbul Governorship and Istanbul Medeniyet University. Faculty of Medicine and Göztepe Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital which is largest training and research Hospital of the and Anatolian side continue on its way in education and health services with a close cooperation and affiliation system. The characteristics of our hospital, such as the quality of both pre-graduate education and post-graduation specialization training, as well as its wide patient potential, have made Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine a center of attraction.
In our faculty, which started education with 120 students in the 2012-2013 academic year, a total of 803 students are currently receiving education. Until the 2016-2017 academic year, 30% of students were accepted on the basis of English education. As of the 2016-2017 academic year, students have been accepted to the Faculty of Medicine on the basis of 100% Turkish education, in accordance with the decision of the university senate. Looking at the educational opportunities; In our faculty, there are three lecture halls for 130 people used in theoretical education, 2 Multidisciplinary Student Laboratories, 1 Research Laboratory, 2 Clinical Skills Labs, Anatomy Labs and Computer Labs. In addition, there are classrooms and reading halls with a smaller number of students, and these halls are also used for Case-Based Learning (DBE) Sessions within the framework of the applied plan.
Medical education in our faculty; It is planned and monitored by two commissions, the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education Commission. Sub-committees of the Undergraduate Education Commission; Coordinators Board, Assessment and Evaluation Board, VDÖ Board, Clinical Skills Board, Elective Course Board, Transfer and Adaptation Commission and Erasmus Coordinator.
As of the end of 2019, 379 specialization students in the Ministry of Health, 26 in our faculty, 405 specialization students in total are being trained in the Medical Specialization Exam (TUS) within the framework of the Regulation on Specialization Education in Medicine and Dentistry, besides 139 lecturers, 1 lecturer and 7 research assistants.
Sub-committees of the Undergraduate Education Commission; Coordinators Board, Active Education Board, Curriculum Board, Assessment and Evaluation Board, VDÖ Board, Clinical Skills Board, Elective Course Board, Transfer and Adaptation Board, Program Evaluation Board, Student Advisory Board, Bologna Commission, Erasmus and Farabi Coordinator. In our faculty, our faculty members who are experienced in their field, who have made themselves accepted in the field of science, who have taken education, research and service, work for them.
In our Faculty of Medicine and our hospital, a specialization education process with high standards, rules and map is carried out, and specialist students are trained in 46 major and minor branches. Specialist students graduate as well-equipped specialist physicians from our institution, which offers the opportunity to monitor a wide spectrum of patients with the advantage of high patient potential in basic, internal and surgical branches and the quality of high-level education staff. Efforts are underway to complete the new service building, which will provide a modern service and training area for our hospital's patients and employees, in a short time. In addition, our faculty has the opportunity to benefit from all research and development laboratories within the body of Istanbul Medeniyet University and to cooperate with non-medical units.
